Universal Display Corporation (Nasdaq: OLED), a global leader in energy-efficient OLED technologies and materials, today reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026.

“The third quarter saw important advancements across our innovation portfolio, in addition to continued momentum across the OLED ecosystem, from investments in new OLED capacity and the expansion of foldable and IT OLED products,” said Brian Millard, Chief Financial Officer of Universal Display Corporation. “During the quarter, we introduced OLEDX, advanced our phosphorescent blue program, expanded our AI-enabled materials discovery capabilities, and achieved a key commercialization milestone with the launch of UVJC’s first equipment platform. As OLED adoption broadens across new products, applications and form factors, we see the industry becoming increasingly focused on higher performance, greater power efficiency and enhanced user experiences. These evolving requirements align with our innovation strategy and reinforce our confidence in the long-term opportunities for our technologies and the value we believe they can create for customers and shareholders.”

Financial Highlights for the Third Quarter of 2026

  • Total revenue in the third quarter of 2026 was $160.4 million as compared to $139.6 million in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Revenue from material sales was $79.7 million in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $82.6 million in the third quarter of 2025. The decrease was primarily due to changes in customer mix and a $4.8 million unfavorable period-over-period change in the cumulative catch-up adjustment, primarily attributable to material fees, partially offset by higher unit material volume.

  • Revenue from royalty and license fees was $75.5 million in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $53.3 million in the third quarter of 2025. The increase was primarily the result of higher unit material volume, changes in customer mix and a $9.5 million out-of-period adjustment that reduced prior-year royalty and license fees revenue.

  • Cost of material sales was $39.6 million in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $32.8 million in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Total gross margin was 73% in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to 75% in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Operating income was $53.7 million in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $43.1 million in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Other income, net was $37.3 million in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $952,000 in the third quarter of 2025, primarily due to a $28.9 million gain related to a UDC Ventures investment, and a $7.2 million foreign currency gain on a tax receivable denominated in Korean won.

  • The effective income tax rate was 20.4% in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to 18.7% in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Net income was $78.9 million or $1.72 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2026 as compared to $44.0 million or $0.92 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2025.

  • Non-GAAP adjusted net income, which excludes the $28.9 million gain on the UDC Ventures investment and the related income tax expense, was $56.2 million or $1.23 per diluted share in the third quarter of 2026.

Financial Highlights for the First Nine Months of 2026

  • Total revenue in the first nine months of 2026 was $454.8 million as compared to $477.7 million in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Revenue from material sales was $229.6 million in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $257.4 million in the first nine months of 2025. The decrease was primarily due to changes in customer mix, an $8.5 million unfavorable period-over-period change in the cumulative catch-up adjustment for material sales and lower unit material volume. The $8.5 million unfavorable period-over-period change in the cumulative catch-up adjustment was primarily attributable to product mix changes forecasted over the respective remaining lives of certain customer contracts.

  • Revenue from royalty and license fees was $210.9 million in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $202.6 million in the first nine months of 2025. The increase was primarily the result of an $11.1 million favorable period-over-period change in the cumulative catch-up adjustment for royalty and license fees and a $7.1 million out-of-period adjustment that reduced prior-year royalty and license fees revenue, partially offset by lower unit material volume and changes in customer mix. The $11.1 million favorable period-over-period change in the cumulative catch-up adjustment was primarily attributable to an increase in the average royalty and license fees price per gram due to lower anticipated demand from certain customers over the respective remaining lives of their contracts.

  • Cost of material sales was $106.0 million in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $100.9 million in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Total gross margin was 74% in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to 76% in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Operating income was $150.1 million in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $181.3 million in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Other income, net was $30.0 million in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $6.9 million in the first nine months of 2025, primarily due to a $28.9 million gain related to a UDC Ventures investment.

  • The effective income tax rate was 20.1% in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to 19.4% in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Net income was $164.3 million or $3.52 per diluted share in the first nine months of 2026 as compared to $175.7 million or $3.68 per diluted share in the first nine months of 2025.

  • Non-GAAP adjusted net income, which excludes the $28.9 million gain on the UDC Ventures investment and the related income tax expense, was $141.5 million or $3.04 per diluted share in the first nine months of 2026.

Non-GAAP Measures

To supplement the selected financial data presented in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the Company uses certain non-GAAP measures. These non-GAAP measures include adjusted net income and adjusted net income per common share, both basic and diluted.

Each of these non-GAAP measures excludes the effects of the increase in the carrying value of the Company’s minority equity investment and related income tax expense. The Company has provided these non-GAAP measures, which it believes more accurately reflect the operating performance of its ongoing business, to enhance investors’ understanding of current financial performance and period-to-period comparisons. The presentation of non-GAAP measures is not intended to be considered in isolation or as a substitute for, or superior to, the financial information prepared and presented in accordance with GAAP.
