Acquisition expands synchrophasor advanced applications, data management, and power quality solutions for grid reliability and stability.
PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Electric Power Group, LLC (EPG), a leading provider of synchrophasor-based grid monitoring and analytics solutions, announced the acquisition of Grid Protection Alliance, Inc. (GPA), a recognized developer of synchrophasor data management and power quality monitoring solutions. GPA will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of EPG.

The acquisition brings together two organizations with long histories of advancing synchrophasor technology and supporting the electric power industry.
“EPG and GPA share a common focus on helping the electric power industry make better use of high-resolution, time-synchronized grid data,” said Vikram Budhraja, President and CEO of Electric Power Group. “Our strong customer overlap and complementary technologies make this a natural combination. Together, we can accelerate innovation and provide customers with a broader set of capabilities as the grid becomes increasingly complex.”
GPA has developed widely used technologies for the collection, management, and application of synchrophasor and other high-speed time-series data. EPG’s solutions provide real-time grid monitoring, visualization, analytics, and wide-area situational awareness for utilities and grid operators in the United States and internationally.
The acquisition provides continuity for GPA’s existing customers and projects while expanding the resources and solutions available to them.
“We are very excited about today’s announcement,” said Terry Boston, a Founder and Board Member of GPA and former CEO of PJM Interconnection. “GPA was created following the 2003 blackout in the U.S. Eastern Interconnection to encourage the use of PMUs and make big data more accessible to grid operators. The grid is changing, and bringing these two organizations together strengthens our ability to turn that data into actionable intelligence for control room operators to manage IBRs, large Data Center Loads, Oscillations, and help prevent blackouts. EPG is the right long-term home for GPA, with a shared commitment to innovation, customers, and grid reliability, and together will deliver even greater value to our customers and the industry.”
“GPA has built an exceptional technical foundation, talented team, and strong reputation within the industry,” said Akash Ghiya, Vice President of Operations and Strategy of Electric Power Group. “We look forward to working together to support our customers and continue investing in technologies that improve grid visibility, reliability, and resilience.”
