DRI and OraClaim announced the DRI-OraClaim Settlement Database at the DRI Annual Meeting. The anonymized settlement database launches later this year to help claims leaders and counsel judge whether a settlement is reasonable.

Intuition and experience matter, but data can help prevent unfair results on both sides. The database combines verdicts with DRI member-contributed settlements, bringing statistical analysis to an opaque part of the industry and helping claims teams forecast reserves earlier and settle sooner.

Anonymization technology protects the parties’ confidentiality while preserving the data needed to find comparable resolutions. The tool is free to DRI members, and those who contribute eligible settlement data gain access to comparable, anonymized results.

The database extends OraClaim’s benchmarking analysis platform, which lets firms and carriers analyze their case history and share insights without revealing confidential or privileged details.

“The best settlement decisions combine sound legal judgment with reliable information,” noted DRI CEO Dean Martinez. “This initiative will give DRI members another resource for evaluating comparable outcomes and making informed decisions on behalf of their clients, while keeping the experience and judgment of defense counsel at the center of the process.”

“Experience and judgment will always be at the center of settlement decisions,” said Andy Anderson, Co-Founder and COO at OraClaim. “This database will give claims professionals and counsel comparable resolutions to measure those decisions against, and a clearer view of reserves earlier in the claim, without compromising the confidentiality the work depends on.”

Andy Anderson previewed the database in the AI Skills Lab at the meeting, held October 21–23 at the Grand Hyatt Washington. Details: oraclaim.com/dri-settlement-database.
