The new nearly 7,000-square-foot facility brings food access, nutrition education, wellness support and research together under one roof
FRAMINGHAM, MA, UNITED STATES, November 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Daniel’s Table today opened its new Center for Food and Health at 26 Pearl Street, establishing a permanent Framingham home for its growing “food is healthcare” model.
The nearly 7,000-square-foot facility brings together the Predictable Choice Market, a high-capacity community kitchen, nutrition education, dedicated space for wellness screenings and counseling, and a neighborhood gathering space. Made possible in part by an anonymous $1 million donation in 2025, the Center creates room for Daniel’s Table to deepen the support it offers families while testing new approaches to food access and long-term health.
A Permanent Home for Food and Health:
The Center was secured through a 99-year lease at $10 a month, paid in full by Daniel’s Table in June 2026. The arrangement gives the organization a lasting home in Framingham and helps ensure that future resources can be focused on food access, education, wellness support and the families it serves, rather than rent.
“Fourteen years ago, we started with a simple idea, named for our son, Daniel,” said David Blais, co-founder (with wife Alicia Blais) and executive director of Daniel’s Table. “Today, we have a permanent home where families can access nutritious food, build knowledge and find support. This is more than a new building. It is a long-term commitment to the families of Framingham and a place where food, education, health and community can come together, for generations.”
A Connected Model for Community Health:
For many families experiencing food insecurity, the challenge is not only accessing nutritious food, but not knowing what will be available from one week to the next. That uncertainty can make it harder to plan meals, manage chronic conditions and establish healthy routines.
Daniel’s Table is building its work around a simple idea: more food alone will not erase hunger; reducing uncertainty can help families move toward greater stability, health and wellbeing.
At the center of the new building is the Predictable Choice Market, where clients shop for their weekly food allocation with a handheld scanner, much as they would in a traditional grocery store. Clients can preview their selection two days in advance through Daniel’s Table’s mobile app, helping them plan meals and make choices that fit their household nutrition needs.
The model is part of a research collaboration with Boston University School of Public Health and Matmissionen, a pioneering social supermarket in Sweden. Through Predictable Choice, researchers will examine how more predictable access to nutritious food may influence food security, nutrition and health outcomes over time.
“Providing a healthy meal can help a family today, but it doesn’t solve the uncertainty they face tomorrow,” explained Alicia Blais, co-founder and director of programs. “We are creating a place where consistent food access, education, wellness support and research work together—so families have more tools, more choice and more confidence about what comes next.”
The Center’s community kitchen and education space will host cooking classes focused on healthy, affordable meals that fit busy families’ lives and reflect the diverse cultures of Daniel’s Table’s neighbors. The Center also includes space for nutrition counseling and wellness screenings. Daniel’s Table has a nutritionist specializing in eating disorders on staff and plans to add a nurse practitioner in early 2027.
The opening also launches Daniel’s Table’s year-end campaign to sustain its programs. Community members can support the Center by joining the Legacy Brick program, which recognizes donors at the entrance, making a gift, volunteering in the market or kitchen, or teaching a cooking class.
